Job details

Lloyds Banking Group is the UK’s leading digital bank and we are starting an ambitious transformation programme with a plan to invest £3bn over the next 3 years.

Our goal is to further transform the experience for customers and colleague through further digitisation whilst boosting business performance.

Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence will all play a crucial role in this transformation.

With over 30m customers and an investment in our platforms and people (which exceeds the UK FinTech market investment combined) we're creating vast data lakes that will enable us to meet the personalised banking needs of an increasingly digital society.

So we've set up a dedicated Applied Sciences Group and Machine Intelligence Programme to combine machine and human intelligence with data to create entirely new opportunities for our customers and colleagues.

As a diverse group of Analysts, Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers their role is to capitalise on our data capabilities to add customer value and resolve business problems through models and algorithms.

And together we'll make it possible...

We're seeking a small number of aspiring Data Science graduates to join them in September 2018 for a 1 year graduate programme.

We're wanting bright, talented and collaborative individuals who are knowledgeable and passionate about data and associated methods/technologies to join us on this exciting journey.

What you'll be doing...

You'll act as a pathfinder and trailblazer… helping us to shape the Bank of the future.

Drive exciting work:
• You'd get to use state of the art technology including machine learning, a variety of cognitive applications and robotics to improve customer experiences, grow revenue, and increase efficiency across different parts of our Group

Get a holistic view:
• You'll work with business people and fellow data scientists to understand the business problem, design a solution, and implement it to create a tangible outcome. Be assured, you won’t just be a coder glued to the screen.

Learn exponentially:
• You'll get coached and trained on personal, business, and technical skills through a broad range of learning modes e.g. online courses, bootcamps, mash-ups, hackathons, on-the-job-coaching, and immersions.

Have fun:
• Enjoy your work in a friendly supportive environment with peers who like to break perceived boundaries with innovation.

What we're looking for in you

• A passion for Data and solving analytical problems using quantitative methods and relevant technologies.
• Your collaborative spirit and a desire to work with others to create impact
• A 'go getter' attitude and a hunger to learn, test the boundaries, and make a difference
• A good degree in a quantitative discipline, ideally with a Data Science or Machine Learning element to it, and an understanding of statistical modelling techniques that underpin these.
• Some experience with any of the following: the Python Data Science stack (pandas, scikit-learn etc.), R, SQL/Hive, Hadoop, computing languages like Java and/or data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Business Objects)

In return you'll learn invaluable skills from experts whilst receiving a comprehensive package which includes a bonus, a flex cash pot to suit your lifestyle and 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays).

We believe in equal opportunity and diversity and can provide epic career options if you can embrace this opportunity to the full.

So if you have the background we're after and would like to find out more about how you could apply your knowledge at scale to improve people's lives then get in touch, we'd love to hear from you...

Our vision of being the best bank for customers is dependent on every colleague committing to and demonstrating our core value of "putting customers first". In joining us you'll have a role that matters and will contribute towards the Group achieving our vision through your day-today actions being performed in line with our Codes of Responsibility and Group Policies. By individually and collectively committing to our Group values and codes, we will be able to make a difference together and help Britain prosper.

We're also committed to employing a diverse and inclusive workforce, reflective of the customers and communities we serve – where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit.

We're proud to have received the following industry recognition: 'Stonewall Top Private Sector Employer', 'Top10 Employer for Working Families', 'The Times Top 50 Employer for Women' and both 'Gold Standard' and "Best Workplace Adjustments Process" from the Business Disability Forum – each demonstrating our commitment to the principles of agile working and inclusion for all.

So if this sounds like a culture that you'd like to be a part of then be assured that we'll welcome your application.
