The Bank of England is launching a new five pound note: fresh look, new size, different texture. These need to replace the stock of over 70,000 ATMs across the UK… and you’re the Project Manager. Where would you start?

What is a Project Management Apprenticeship at Lloyds Banking Group?

You’ll join us as a Project Management Trainee, learning everything from building relationships with senior colleagues and identifying project and programme milestones to managing budgets and identifying risks. You’ll help to make changes to the way we operate so that we can develop the best bank for customers across all areas of the business.

It takes great organisers and communicators to get great results. On this apprenticeship, you’ll have everything you need to make the most of these skills and you’ll never be short of a new challenge.

What you’ll do:

On this structured, 24 month Higher Apprenticeship scheme (Level 4), you’ll learn all the basics of project management to help you decide your next career step, maybe as an Assistant Project Manager, Assistant Business Analyst, within a programme management office or in business testing.

As well as classroom-based learning, you’ll have plenty of on-the-job training on a variety of placements. This will see you working on projects of differing sizes and complexity and allow you to put your new knowledge into practice. As you understand the planning and monitoring of projects, you’ll help to review existing ways of working and implement new ideas across the Group. You’ll learn how to support the delivery of workstream components, ensuring that cost, quality and timescale objectives are achieved. You’ll do all of this with the support of a dedicated assessor to help ensure your progress throughout the Apprenticeship.

What you’ll need:

To do well in this job, you’ll need to be conscientious and organised, able to prioritise and manage your workload, committed to studying outside of work and learning independently. You’ll also need to have good attention to detail and be proactive, with an optimistic outlook, prepared to go the extra mile to achieve results. Strong communication skills and experience in team working will be of paramount importance, with evidence of an ability to build good working relationships.

You’ll be passionate about working for Lloyds Banking Group and will work hard to support our brand reputation, with a strong desire to succeed in your career. You’ll push yourself beyond your comfort zone and have a keen eye for making the complex simple, while looking for improvement opportunities.

In order to apply for this vacancy, you will require the following:

• Minimum of C grade in English, Maths and Science (double or separate) at GCSE or equivalent.
• 96 UCAS points at A Level or equivalent if awarded in 2017 (predicted grades are acceptable) or 240 UCAS points at A Level or equivalent if awarded prior to 2017

What you’ll gain:

As well as a wealth of experience working on projects in a large, well-known organisation, you’ll gain an Association for Project Management (APM) qualification. This is a nationally recognised qualification, evidencing both knowledge and experience in project management. You’ll also build up a network of contacts in your division and a greater understanding of the opportunities available across Lloyds Banking Group.
